The North Jersey History and Genealogy Center is a department within the Morristown & Morris Township Library, located in the building's lower level. We invite you to explore our exceptional collection of New Jersey and early American histories, genealogies, maps, historical newspapers, historic preservation materials, manuscripts, records, rare books, and fine art and prints. Our collection is open to all. Setting up our own city: the black community in Morristown is now online.

Setting up Our Own City, an oral history project by Cheryl C. Turkington with interviews by Helen Baker Conover, traces the history of the African-American community in Morristown, New Jersey.  It explores how the African American community lived, worked, worshiped, celebrated and sustained itself and the lives of men and women who quietly created a vibrant African-American middle class in Morris County. The material for this story was woven together through numerous interviews and the resources of the North Jersey History & Genealogy Center. Includes index.

Ethelbert Ely Furlong Landscape Architecture Collection, 1913-1965
Ethelbert Ely Furlong (1894-1993) was a landscape architect in practice in northern New Jersey from 1920 until 1983. The collection consists of over 1000 landscape architecture plans, design layouts, blueprints, trade magazine articles, and photographs.

Presbyterian Church in Morristown, ca.1791-1983
Documentation of the historic congregation, including the 1840 rift that led to the creation of the First Church and South Street Presbyterian Church, and its 1925 reunification.
